Music, movies, novels, poetry, everything is stuffed with it, and yet it is so rare. As we observe humanity and scratch a little deep, we become aware that we love each other only as long as it is convenient for ourselves. When immature people come together what can be expected?

The How of love:

Collect all your love in a pool and give it one direction. If you want to know something beyond money, food, material objects & temporary relations then focus attention away from it all. Collect every drop.

Make one pointedness, silent observation of mind, solitude & silence your best friend. Fill the mind with ‘it’ in everything you do.

The Raw Materials:

Thirst for truth, any book that helps us meditate and propel us towards seeking the truth, is more than enough. There is no need to enrol for any classes. There are more Gurus than students now. Get the basics of meditation/chanting straight and introspect. Optional: avoiding watching those movies and listening to music that induces violence, aggression, fear, horror and tragedy (anything that you don’t want to attract into your life’. Some solitude and silence. Consistency in effort.

The Why:

Belief in God is not necessary. In this path one begins with doubt but ends with answers. One investigates and finds out if a higher octave of love is waiting to be discovered. Don’t you want to know if it’s mere poetry when Rumi and Kabir Das talk about divine intoxication? From where does Meera Bai get all her strength?

Obstructions:

Wrong guidance, following fake gurus. Avoid places and organisations (like ISKON) at all cost. The brainwash there is too ridiculous.

Beliefs like “you HAVE TO DO hard penance, walk 500 steps up the staircase of a temple, walk for several kilometres in the heat, remain in pilgrimage places for days or months” is utter rubbish. Any idiot can do these things and call it ‘penance’ and remain unchanged internally!

Hard Penance means striving hard for one pointedness and inner silence in the midst of noise. Penance means, being honest in a world full of liars. Giving charity without making noise. It means regaining innocence, becoming childlike once again. Instead of starving the body starve the mind off of all its impurities, let truth remain the only obsession. Starve the mind unto truth. Some people will ask you to ‘renounce’ everything. Renounce your jealousy and anger, keep chasing dreams, honing your skills and talents while giving your lotus heart away to the search for the truth alone.

It is better to keep quiet and avoid commenting on another’s spiritual progress or ‘mistakes’. Just because you are older than someone doesn’t mean you are wise and entitled to ‘guide’ the other. Keep quiet and do your Sadhana, don’t make noise! Little knowledge can be fatal, empty vessels make all the noise!

A higher octave of love awaits us.
